Accommodations and Layout

The Chris Craft 392 Commander is actually the old Uniflite 38 convertible dressed up in a more modern package. Chris Craft first marketed this boat in 1985 as the 382 Commander Sport Sedan - basically the late Uniflite 38 with a new name. The following year (1986) Chris Craft engineers redesigned the deckhouse and flybridge resulting in a much-improved profile. While the Chris 392 is light years ahead of the old Uniflite in appearance and decor, the well-known seakeeping properties of the original hull have been retained. The cockpit is large enough for a fighting chair, side decks are wide, and the bridge is arranged with bench seating forward of the helm. Beginning forward most is a bow anchor rode storage locker; next aft is the master stateroom fitted with a queen size berth with storage compartment and drawers beneath, port and starboard small storage lockers and a large hanging locker to starboard; master stateroom has a carpeted floor and side hull liner. Starboard side aft of the master stateroom is the guest stateroom fitted with upper and lower bunks and a large hanging locker. Port side aft of the master stateroom is a water closet with linoleum flooring, fitted with toilet, shower stall and lavatory/vanity. Centerline and up steps from the forward accommodation spaces and set to port is the galley with oak parquet flooring. Stepping up and aft of the galley above the engine room is the salon; starboard side forward salon is the AC and DC ships service electrical distribution panels. Salon is fitted with L shaped sleeper sofa, centerline aft most is the exit door to the cockpit.
